1. Use a wire of any desired length. The wire needs to be long enough to make a loop on each side with the bead in the middle. I think that 20 guage wire is the best for this type of loop because it has a thicker diameter.
2. Use either round nose or needle nose pliers to make a 90 degree angle about 3/8ths of an inch (1 cm) from one end of the wire. This length will vary depending on how large or small the desired loop will be.
3. With the round nose pliers, grasp the tip of the wire on the newly formed angle. Rotate your wrist as you bring the tip of the wire back towards the wire.
4. You can adjust the loop until you reach the desired look. Also, you can trim the length of the wire, making the loop smaller if you desire a smaller loop.
5. Now slide the bead on the opposite end of the wire. The bead should rest on the loop you just formed.
6. Next, bend the wire to make the 90 degree angle right at the end of the bead. At this point, I like to bend the wire with my fingers against the bead in order to form the right angle.
7. Trim the excess wire off of the end so the length of the wire is now 3/8ths of an inch (1 cm) long.
8. Holding firmly in your hand the already made loop and the bead, repeat Steps 3 and 4.
9. Now you have created a wire loop with a bead in the middle! You can create more of these and create a chain. As you are making the second loop, before closing it completely, attach the open loop through the loop of a separate, complete bead and loop unit. Then close the loop and the two loops are attached. Continue to do this until you create a chain of your desired length.
I like using this technique to create necklaces long enough to wrap multiple times around your neck. Also, you do not have to use a clasp on this necklace. Just make sure the finished necklace is long enough to comfortably put it on over your head.
